The Calm in my Chaos :)
"Is your Chromebook charged?"
"Do you have sleeves for your Chromebook and laptop?"
"Don't forget your badge."
"Hmm... don't you need anything else?"
"Oh yes! Can you sharpen the pencils? And I forgot my pens, markers, and highlighters..."
"My journal too!"
"What's wrong with my Chromebook? Why can't I access my email? Why is this page taking forever to load?"
"My handbag is going to be much heavier than I expected."
"Why don't you take a backpack?"
"What?! Ridiculous! I'm not carrying a backpack like a school kid!"
"Are my phone and watch charging?"
"What's your plan for lunch tomorrow? Is that sorted?"
If you're wondering what kind of chaos this is, it probably sounds like a kindergartner getting ready for the first day of school. 😄
Well... that was exactly the vibe in our house last night.
Only this time, I was the one panicking, and my baby, who isn't really a baby anymore was calmly helping me get ready.
While I was running from one thing to another, he stayed completely composed. He had a to-do list, a packing checklist, and was making sure I had everything I needed for my first day back at work after the summer holidays.
"Did you pack this?"
"Have you got that?"
"You're all set, Mom."
New role. New responsibilities. New pressures.
Meanwhile, he was laughing at my frantic energy while quietly keeping everything on track.
As I watched him, I couldn't help but think about all those school mornings when I was the one checking his bag, charging devices, packing lunches, sharpening pencils, and making sure nothing was forgotten. Back then, I carried his worries so he could walk into school feeling prepared.
Today, life came full circle.
The little boy I once got ready for school is now the calm, organized young man helping me get ready for work.
Watching him take responsibility, stay composed under pressure, and care for me in the same thoughtful way filled my heart with so much pride.
Sometimes, the biggest reminder that your child has grown up isn't their age, it's the moment they become your calm in the middle of your chaos❤️
